It is indeed a pleasure to welcome you to our school on behalf of the Governing Body and the staff. Hopolang Combined School is mainly a dual medium school that offers Sesotho as a home language and English as a first additional language. The school endeavours to maintain an equitable balance between the two languages wherever possible.

Hopolang Combined School is one of the two primary schools offering Sesotho within the Western Cape Province. The school was established in 1991 and is based in Khayelitsha H-section. The co-founders of the school are Ms Nthuseng Tsoeu and Ms Adelaid Mannini Matsabisa. Hopolang is known for its uniqueness and cultural celebrations such as Moshweshwe’s day.  Our school motto is “THUTO KE LESEDI”, which means “EDUCATION IS LIGHT”.  Our aim is to cultivate a happy parent body, staff and learners with the emphasis on quality education and respect for all.

The current school principal is Mr. Bernard Thabo Mokhanya who is the second principal to the school ever since its establishment in 1991. The school have dedicated and committed teachers that are striving towards the government slogan of “Batho Pele”, which means “Putting people first”.  We are promoting and striving to create a “Growth mind-set”, by cultivating creative thinking and developing young minds. Our school promotes values to the entire school community.

The effectiveness and success of our school as an educational institution is determined by the actual and positive involvement, personal input and abilities of our staff members, learners and parent community.  Let us together strive to make our school our pride.
